MAIN (Main Street Capital Corporation) Raises Monthly Dividend to $0.27

Main Street Capital Corporation announced on November 3, 2026 that its regular monthly dividend will rise to $0.27 for January, February and March 2027. The 1.9% increase brings the quarter’s regular payments to $0.81 per share. It also declared a $0.30 supplemental dividend for December 28, 2026.

We welcome the increase because it raises the recurring income shareholders can expect from the declared payments. The supplemental dividend has a different immediate source: Main Street says it will come from undistributed taxable income, meaning taxable profits retained from earlier periods. That reserve can support an extra payment, although it does not establish that the same amount will be earned again.

Main Street finances smaller businesses through loans and equity investments, while its asset management business earns fees from managing outside capital. What matters for future dividend growth is the income left per share after operating and borrowing costs. A higher declared payment is encouraging, but it also raises the earnings requirement for keeping that payment comfortably supported.

Our view is that the modest rise in the regular dividend is useful progress, with accumulated taxable income helping fund December’s extra payment. The next earnings report needs to show that earning power is keeping pace with the higher regular commitment. That is the evidence that would make this increase more reassuring beyond the dates already declared.
