CION Repays ﹩314.8 Million and Opens Loan Venture

CION Investment Corporation (CION) said on September 29, 2026, that it repaid approximately ﹩314.8 million of debt and completed a new senior-loan joint venture.

The company repaid ﹩114.8 million of Series A unsecured notes at par plus accrued interest on August 31. It also repaid approximately ﹩200 million under a JPMorgan senior secured credit facility on September 25, terminated the facility, and obtained the release of its security interests.

CION closed Senior Loan Fund Partners on September 17 with institutional investors. The venture issued ﹩125 million of senior secured notes and received ﹩59.7 million of membership capital. It used those proceeds to buy 20 first-lien loans from CION with aggregate par value of about ﹩180.3 million and fair value of ﹩180.0 million, or 99.8% of par.

Why it matters

CION estimated that the transactions would have reduced June 30 pro forma net leverage to about 1.35 times. Lower leverage can improve balance-sheet flexibility, while the joint venture keeps CION economically connected to a pool of senior secured loans.

The announcement does not quantify the continuing income CION will receive from the venture or the transactions’ effect on net investment income. Those earnings remain the primary signal for dividend support. Shareholders should watch funding costs, joint-venture income, and the next reported leverage and net investment income figures.
