abrdn Income Credit Strategies Fund reduced its monthly distribution from ﹩0.0775 to ﹩0.055 per common share on September 11, 2026.
What changed
The 29% reduction begins with the September 30 payment to shareholders of record on September 22. The new rate annualizes to ﹩0.66 per share. Aberdeen described that as approximately 12.5% of NAV as of September 10 and said the fund intends to maintain the rate for at least 12 months unless market conditions change significantly and unexpectedly.
Why it matters
The adviser said tighter credit spreads have reduced prospective total returns and that the lower payment gives portfolio managers more flexibility. That is a direct acknowledgment that the prior payout was high relative to the current opportunity set.
ACP says its distribution policy uses current income, supplemented by realized gains and, when needed, paid-in capital. That company description is not the formal Fly High Dividend Coverage Ratio. Earnings remain the primary dividend-support signal, while NAV and distribution sources provide supporting evidence.
Shareholders should watch actual portfolio income, realized gains, return-of-capital notices and NAV after the reset. The board can modify the policy, so the stated 12-month intention is not a guarantee.
