NMS (Nuveen Minnesota Quality Municipal Income Fund) and NPV (Nuveen Virginia Quality Municipal Income Fund) Merger Votes Move to October 29
View the NMS Dividend Stock Profile
Nuveen Minnesota Quality Municipal Income Fund and Nuveen Virginia Quality Municipal Income Fund adjourned their September 24, 2026 special shareholder meetings to October 29 to allow more time for voting.
The pending proposal would merge NMS and NPV into Nuveen Municipal Credit Income Fund. The boards approved the proposed combinations in April, but shareholder approvals and other closing conditions remain outstanding.
Why it matters
The adjournment delays certainty about the proposed mergers. Nuveen says the combinations could produce higher common-share earnings and distributions, more trading liquidity, greater portfolio and leverage flexibility, and lower operating expenses excluding leverage. Those are manager expectations, not completed results.
Until the reconvened meetings produce sufficient votes, each fund remains separate and the expected economics and timing can still change. Shareholders should watch the October 29 vote outcome and any revised merger timetable.
