Aberdeen Government Markets Income Fund said on September 24, 2026, that its board approved a one-for-five reverse stock split effective before trading opens on October 8.
Every five MGF shares will become one share. The fund said the change will not alter its investment strategy, net assets, or a shareholder’s proportional ownership, except for fractional-share treatment. Fractional entitlements will be combined and sold, with net proceeds distributed to affected holders.
What changes for shareholders
The split will mechanically multiply the per-share NAV, market price, and distribution amount while reducing the number of shares. MGF’s 7.25% annual managed-distribution rate, based on average monthly NAV, will remain unchanged. The fund will keep the MGF ticker and receive new CUSIP 552939209.
The board said a higher quoted share price may reduce trading and administrative friction and improve access to some investment platforms. The split itself does not improve earnings, dividend support, or the aggregate value of a holding.
