GSBD (Goldman Sachs BDC, Inc.) Earnings Narrow to the Base Dividend
View the GSBD Dividend Stock Profile
Goldman Sachs BDC reported third-quarter adjusted net investment income of $0.32 per share on November 5, 2026, and discussed the results on its November 6 call. That is just enough to match the $0.32 base dividend declared for the fourth quarter. The previous quarter produced $0.37 per share on the same adjusted basis and was followed by a $0.03 supplemental dividend. The latest announcement declared only the base payment.
The company lends to midsize businesses, so the interest and fees it earns on those loans have to cover its own borrowing costs and operating expenses before there is income available for shareholders. Total investment income fell from $83.7 million to $75.0 million, and the value of the portfolio after liabilities fell to $11.70 per share from $12.06. The company reduced its net debt relative to equity from 1.35 to 1.21 times, giving it more room to manage credit problems, although a smaller loan book can also bring in less interest.
We think the base dividend has support at the latest reported level of earning power, but there is little room for another step down. A recovery in adjusted net investment income would give the regular payment a margin again. Until then, we would put more weight on whether the loan book can stabilize its income than on the supplemental payment shareholders received last quarter.
