CGBD (Carlyle Secured Lending, Inc.) Earnings Edge Above the Dividend

Carlyle Secured Lending discussed its third-quarter results on November 6, 2026, after reporting adjusted net investment income of $0.36 per common share the previous day. That was up from $0.35 in the second quarter and a penny above the $0.35 dividend declared for the fourth quarter. The dividend is payable January 19, 2027, to shareholders of record December 31, 2026.

Carlyle lends to midsize businesses and also earns income through jointly owned loan portfolios. Those ventures are becoming a bigger part of the business. One of them, Structured Credit Partners, grew to $2.1 billion in investments and reported a 20.3% annualized yield to Carlyle Secured Lending for the quarter. That figure describes the venture’s contribution on an annualized basis. Meanwhile, on the direct investment side, repayments and sales exceeded new investments, and the new investments carried a lower average yield than those that left the portfolio.

The company also estimated it had $0.72 per share of spillover income at September 30, meaning taxable income left over from earlier periods. That gives the board some flexibility. We see the penny of extra adjusted income as real progress, but it leaves a slim margin for the dividend. The stronger test will be whether income from the ventures can keep offsetting the pressure from lower yields on new direct investments.
