Gas Storage Cushion Narrows Despite Weekly Build
The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported that working natural gas inventories rose 44 billion cubic feet to 3,298 billion cubic feet in the week ended September 11. Stocks were 118 billion cubic feet above the five-year average but 122 billion cubic feet below last year. One week earlier, the comparable cushion was 148 billion cubic feet above the five-year average.
For the Fly High universe, the remaining seasonal cushion limits immediate supply stress, while the slower build signals a tighter balance than the headline inventory total suggests. Persistent energy pressure can raise operating costs and inflation risk, with consequences for borrower earnings and funding costs. This is supporting macro evidence; company-specific earnings remain the primary dividend signal.
Watch whether the next injection rebuilds the cushion as warm-weather demand continues.
