Trinity Capital Inc. (Nasdaq: TRIN) priced ﹩350 million of 7.500% unsecured notes due January 15, 2032, on September 30, 2026.
The notes were priced at 99.104% of principal for a 7.714% yield to maturity and are expected to settle October 5. Interest is payable twice yearly, beginning January 15, 2027. The pricing sheet lists expected ratings of Baa3 from Moody’s, BBB Low from Morningstar DBRS, and BBB from Egan-Jones.
Trinity expects to use the net proceeds to reduce part of the debt outstanding under its secured KeyBank credit facility and for general corporate purposes. Replacing secured borrowing with longer-dated unsecured debt could improve collateral flexibility and extend funding, although the final effect depends on the amount repaid and the new notes’ total cost.
The prospectus reported approximately ﹩1.58 billion of total debt outstanding on September 22, including about ﹩670.6 million of secured subsidiary borrowings and ﹩906.9 million of unsecured notes. Trinity’s asset coverage ratio was approximately 183.7% at June 30.
This financing does not create earnings. Its dividend relevance comes through future interest expense, leverage, liquidity, and the earning assets funded by Trinity’s capital structure. The next evidence to watch is the completed settlement, actual KeyBank repayment, and subsequent asset-coverage and net investment income reporting.
