FSK (FS KKR Capital Corp.) Adds $0.20 Special Payment to $0.44 Quarterly Distribution

FS KKR Capital announced on October 8, 2026 that it will pay a $0.20 special distribution alongside its regular fourth-quarter payment of $0.44 per share. The extra payment is welcome. It comes from income accumulated for tax purposes, so it does not establish a higher recurring dividend.

The board declared both payments on October 7. The special payment is due on or about December 15 to shareholders of record on December 1. The regular payment is due on or about December 24 to shareholders of record on December 16.

The regular amount is unchanged from the third quarter. The special distribution represents part of FSK’s estimated undistributed taxable income, sometimes called spillback income: taxable income kept from earlier periods and paid out later.

That distinction matters. FSK lends to private businesses, and its continuing dividend support depends on the investment income left after borrowing costs, management fees and other expenses. Paying out accumulated income gives shareholders cash, but it does not tell us how much the current loan portfolio is earning per share.

FSK says the regular payment reflects management’s current expectations for the September quarter. Final earnings are still being prepared, and the company explicitly cautions against treating the declaration as an earnings forecast.

We would like to see the next results confirm support for the regular payment. The August results also showed that a management-fee waiver helped earnings, so the cost of running the business remains part of that test. The November 5 report should give a clearer picture of income after costs and progress with loans that have stopped producing interest.
