How the business works
Redwood has two connected ways to earn. Its mortgage-banking businesses acquire or originate loans and earn a margin when those loans are sold or packaged for investors. Its investment portfolio earns income on mortgages and related assets it retains. Financing costs, operating expenses and loan performance determine how much of that activity becomes earnings available to common shareholders and supports the regular dividend.
