PIMCO Corporate & Income Opportunity Fund invests across credit markets. Interest from its portfolio helps fund a monthly distribution, while credit results, financing and investment gains shape the broader picture.

How the business works
PTY owns income-producing debt, including corporate and other credit securities. Borrowers pay interest; the fund then meets its financing and operating costs before net investment income is available to common shareholders. Fiscal 2026 net investment income was $1.18 per share against $1.43 of cash distributions. Gains and other permitted sources can also contribute, but they are not the same as recurring portfolio income.
Extras are shown separately and are not assumed to repeat.

Reported earnings and sources
Reported earnings for the latest four periods. Compare the same earnings measure across periods; different measures are not added together.
Cash distributions are the total paid per share during each reporting period, including any gains or return of capital. Period lengths may differ, so compare the dates before comparing amounts. Short periods are not annualized.
NAV change excludes distributions. Reported NAV total return includes reinvestment and is copied from the fund statement, not estimated by adding cash distributions to the NAV change.
How to read PTY income
Interest after fund expenses is the main recurring income measure. Compare it with distributions for the same full reporting period.
Watch defaults, interest-rate changes and expenses. Income can hold up while falling bond or loan values reduce NAV.
The reported investment income is before payments to preferred shareholders. Those payments also draw on the fund, so this income figure is not the amount left to cover common-share distributions.
Income and distributions
Income and cash distributions per share for the same dated periods. Shorter periods are kept separate and are not annualized. Interest after fund expenses is the main recurring income measure. Compare it with distributions for the same full reporting period.
Financial snapshot: 2026-06-30. Research reviewed 2026-09-30. The audited income and distribution figures end June 30, 2026. The monthly third-party reading and September declaration belong to later, separate periods.

PTY’s investments and obligations together determine NAV per common share. Changes in that value matter to an income investor, but NAV is not a measure of cash ready for the next payment.
Follow NAV alongside income and cash distributions. A market premium or discount answers a price question, not whether the monthly distribution was earned.
The fiscal 2026 annual report shows $1.18 per share of net investment income and $1.43 of cash distributions. Earlier comparable full June fiscal years are in the fund histories. A separate July 2026 third-party monthly earnings reading is not mixed into the audited annual series.
PTY reported $1.18 per share of fiscal 2026 net investment income against $1.43 of cash distributions.
The monthly payment continues, but recurring income did not cover the full-year cash distributions. We want to see that gap narrow in the next comparable filing.
Credit outcomes and financing costs affect the income available to PTY’s common shareholders.
The separate July monthly reading was stronger, but it does not replace the annual result. We will follow both on their own dates and watch how NAV develops.
Start with the next comparable audited net investment income and cash distributions. Then check the regular monthly rate, financing costs, gains and NAV.

PTY's regular monthly payment has held steady, and its credit portfolio can generate more than one kind of return. Our clean recurring-income test remains the audited fiscal year: $1.18 per share of net investment income against $1.43 distributed in 2026. That leaves a gap to watch. The stronger July monthly estimate adds context, but we will not treat it as an annual result or as proof that every dollar of the payment was earned from recurring income.

For six payments from February through July 2025, PIMCO reported $0.145814 of return of capital out of $0.7128 distributed per common share.
These figures cover only the February through July 2025 payments. They describe $0.7128 per share across 6 payments, not the full 2025 tax mix. The company form identifies return of capital for these six payments only. It does not classify the rest of the payments as ordinary dividends, or tell us the full calendar-year mix. Use your Form 1099-DIV for the full year. See the company's tax filing.

The payments named above have company-backed tax information, and that is worth seeing. Other 2025 payments may have a different mix, so we have not extended these percentages beyond the dates the source actually covers. Your full-year tax statement completes the story.
Qualified dividends are included in total ordinary dividends. Section 199A is a separate designation within ordinary dividends, not extra income or qualified dividend income.
