Financial snapshot: 2026-06-30. Research reviewed 2026-10-17. The annual earnings comparison is from 2026-10-17. The business and balance-sheet figures below relate to the reporting period shown.
The income-producing business
Most of FSK's first-half 2026 investment income was earned in cash: 85.2% came from cash income, while paid-in-kind interest contributed 13.5% and discount accretion contributed 1.3%.
The cash-earned share is helpful, but the non-cash portion still depends on future collection. That makes the quality of the income important alongside its reported amount, particularly when earnings leave little room around the regular dividend.

The funding behind the assets
FSK's borrowing costs and incentive fees respond to portfolio performance, debt outstanding and benchmark interest rates. Changes in those costs affect how much investment income remains for shareholders.
A lower interest bill can help the dividend, but it needs to be considered alongside what the assets are earning. The useful improvement is stronger income after expenses for each share, rather than a larger portfolio or a lower expense figure in isolation.

Do earnings cover the dividend?
Annual earnings of $1.66 per share compare with $1.76 in annual dividends. Coverage is 94.32%. Earnings fall short of the payment in this update. We want to see the gap close.
The payment needs stronger earnings support. Look for a smaller shortfall in the next update.

Credit quality and non-accrual risk
When FSK doubts that interest will be collected, it stops recording that income. Previously accrued interest can also be written off, while unpaid PIK interest not yet added to principal is generally reversed when an investment moves to non-accrual.
A troubled loan can therefore weaken income before it is sold or written off in full. A more useful sign of recovery is a borrower catching up on principal and interest with a reasonable prospect of staying current, rather than FSK simply maintaining its distribution.

Interest-rate sensitivity
FSK's June 30, 2026 rate-sensitivity analysis estimates that a one-percentage-point rate decline would reduce net interest income by $27 million over twelve months, assuming its portfolio and financing arrangements remain unchanged.
Lower borrowing costs would help, but in this scenario they would not fully offset the reduction in asset income. Falling rates could therefore squeeze dividend support even without further credit deterioration. This is a sensitivity test, not an earnings forecast.

Asset quality
FSK attributes lower second-quarter and first-half 2026 interest and PIK income to a smaller portfolio and additional investments moving to non-accrual, compared with the corresponding 2025 periods.
This is pressure on the assets' earning capacity, not just a change in valuation. More dependable borrower payments and replacement income from performing investments would be needed to support a stronger view.

Available funding and coverage requirements
At June 30, 2026, FS KKR held $109 million of cash, equivalents, restricted cash and foreign currency. Available borrowings were $3.052 billion subject to facility limits, versus unfunded debt, equity and joint-venture commitments totaling approximately $1.615 billion. Asset coverage was 179% for debt and 177% for senior securities represented by stock, above the 150% requirement.
Fly High assessment: The reported resources and conditional borrowing availability do not identify an immediate funding shortfall. Credit losses can reduce that headroom, and restricted cash and available credit must not be counted as recurring earnings.

Capital per share
Common-share NAV fell from $20.89 to $18.30 over the first half of 2026. Realized and unrealized losses totaled $2.55 per share, far outweighing the $0.01 benefit from share repurchases.
The small buyback benefit could not offset investment losses, leaving less capital behind each share. Rebuilding a reliable income-producing asset base matters more than the repurchase benefit alone.
