CLM (Cornerstone Strategic Investment Fund, Inc.) and CRF (Cornerstone Total Return Fund, Inc.) Lower Monthly Distributions for 2027

On November 6, 2026, Cornerstone Strategic Investment Fund and Cornerstone Total Return Fund announced lower monthly distributions for the first three months of 2027. CLM will pay $0.1053 per share, down from $0.1215 in 2026, while CRF will pay $0.1022, down from $0.1176. That reduces the monthly cash payment by about 13% for both funds.

Both boards kept the annual distribution rate at 21% of net asset value, which is what the fund owns less what it owes. The policy sets the dollar payment using net asset value per share on the last business day of October. With a smaller asset base per share at this year’s reset, the same rate produced a smaller payment.

For anyone budgeting around the monthly cash, the new per-share amounts are the figures that matter. The funds set those payments by policy, so the 21% rate tells us how much they plan to distribute relative to the reset value. To judge how much of that cash the portfolios can support, we would look at investment income and gains alongside the change in net asset value per share. The lower payments reduce the cash the portfolios need to fund each month, and the next reports will show how much of that burden their investments are carrying.
