Saudi Pipeline Repairs Extend Oil Pressure
Saudi Arabia’s East-West oil pipeline will remain mostly out of service for three to five weeks after last week’s drone attack, the Associated Press reported Monday. The route had helped bypass restricted Strait of Hormuz shipping. Brent traded above $108 before the U.S. open, extending the global energy-price shock ahead of this week’s Federal Reserve meeting.
For the Fly High universe, the primary channel is earnings. Higher fuel and freight costs can pressure borrower margins and property cash flow, raising credit risk for BDCs and real-estate lenders. Persistent inflation can also keep refinancing and mortgage-REIT funding costs elevated. Floating-rate assets may support BDC income, but borrower ability to pay remains the limiting condition. Price moves alone do not prove dividend capacity changed.
