Crude Builds as Distillate Stocks Stay Tight
The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported Wednesday that commercial crude inventories rose 3.0 million barrels in the week ended September 18, while gasoline stocks fell 1.7 million barrels and distillate stocks slipped 0.4 million barrels. Distillate inventories were 12.7% below their year-earlier level.
For the Fly High universe, the mixed report points to adequate crude supply but still-tight refined fuels. That can keep transport and operating costs elevated and complicate disinflation, which may slow relief in long-term rates and funding costs. The inventory data are supporting macro evidence; company-specific earnings remain the primary dividend signal.
Watch whether next week’s report shows replenishment in diesel-type fuels as refiners move further into autumn maintenance.
